In the ever-evolving landscape of the energy sector, Plug is leading the charge to transform the way we power our world. Jessica Fleck, Senior Manager of Energy Procurement, embodies the spirit of Plug’s vision for a sustainable future.

Jessica plays a pivotal role for Plug, with responsibilities that include analyzing utility energy rates for prospective hydrogen plants, negotiating energy costs and contracts for plants under construction, and managing risk and market exposure for renewable energy credits.

Despite the seemingly strenuous role, Jessica has a different perspective. She knows she is “making a difference in the future industries that involve hydrogen.”

Before her arrival at Plug, Jessica already was established in her career, having experience with trading and operations in the wholesale energy market. Plug then provided Jessica with “endless opportunities in not only the energy industry but a lot of other sectors as well”. Plug’s ability to extract the utmost potential out of their employees has allowed Jessica to flourish in her role. Employees at Plug are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and take on other roles.

“It was exciting to me to be able to use my background in a different way and towards other sectors”.

Outside of Plug, Jessica goes home to her family which includes toddler Margot, husband, and her black lab. She spends most of her time, “chasing after Margot and making sure she doesn’t pull our dog’s tail too much!”

When she is not chasing her daughter around the house, she enjoys being outside as much as possible with her family. Jessica lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, which is home to beautiful scenery especially this time of the year — they “love the fall season with the leaves turning”. Not only does Jessica and her family love observing the scenery, they also enjoy experiencing it.

“Hiking has been a large pastime and hobby for the past several years. My husband and I moved to North Carolina about 5 years ago and have loved getting out to all their state parks as well as the mountains and beach. Some of the best ones we have been to have been Hanging Rock State Park, Mount Mitchell State Park, and the Outer Banks”.

Jessica’s role at Plug is undoubtedly pivotal, but her perspective goes beyond titles and responsibilities. With a keen sense of purpose, she sees her work as a vital contribution to shaping the future of hydrogen industries. Plug’s environment of continuous growth and personal development has allowed Jessica to thrive, and her passion extends beyond the workplace. Embracing the scenic beauty of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jessica, along with her family, finds solace in the outdoors, reinforcing her deep appreciation for both the environment and life’s simple joys. In this balance between a dynamic career and cherished family moments, Jessica Fleck’s journey serves as an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the significance of passion, versatility, and the beauty that surrounds us.
